India’s Attractions - Law Garden Bazaar~

Ahmedabad (city - think Kuala Lumpur), a city in Gujarat (state - think Wilayah Persekutuan) , India (duh - Bolehland of course) is hardly a tourist attraction sorta place. But for me, it’s really a chance to let you taste what India is about… You can’t get this experience anywhere… The scent of cow shit, people spitting and urinating at the streets in full view, beggars who can grope at you to beg for money, etc etc.

Ah sorry I’ve strayed off a little.

Welcome to Ahmedabad’s famous Law Garden bazaar. Law Garden itself is a famous garden, sorta like Titiwangsa. Will blog about the garden later on.

rows of mongers by you.

Right behind the trees, is a little stretch of street is famous for it’s handcrafted items.

welcome to law garden by you.

See the colourful and intricate bedsheet? Oh so nice, but not practical to sleep on.

law garden activities by you.

It’s just a stretch of road, but since they call this an exotic tourist destination, okay loh you win. Petaling Street mah also always proudly introduced as one of Malaysia’s famous tourist destinations, but we locals know better. Riiiiiiiiiiight?  *chuckles*

trash by you.

Not to mention dirty too. Two fellas are comparing the sizes of their nose shit. Not kidding coz I just saw ‘em dig their noses. And there is this one kid who wiped away his snot with his hands before he picked up a sheet to show me (!).

tramps by you.

Some tramps live at the end of this streets too. See the dog here so dirty and skinny. And the kid too poor to buy shoes to wear. :(

Okay okay enough sarcasm.

stall view by you.

Seeeeeeee they’re selling tons of handcrafted stuff! All the blings are done via hand. No machine work. Amazing attention to detail, isn’t it?

peekaboo by you.

Seeeeeeeeeeeee the burst of colors and artwork. Truly Indian.

mannequin by you.

And the pictures of the stalls stop here because you’ll see endless repetitions of the SAME merchandise. Just that the color and patterns different lah. And the people here are generally not friendly enough to pose for you. :(

blur of colors by you.

Give you one more blur shot. See essentially the same stuff right? Row after row of fabrics, clothings, skirts, etc. And a bling shop. And eh, why people’s blur shot so artistic but mine so…?

Let you see my loot better. :P

my skirt by you.

I bought this skirt at a whim. And as I mentioned previously, it’s not good to stay and mope at any stall too long in India. They will stuff you endlessly with choices and if you don’t buy, you’ll get it.

Seriously, you WILL be overwhelmed by the colors and choices available. The whole street is overflowing with supplies of this sorta skirt but in different color combinations; different bead designs; different fabric combinations; different artwork. Essentially same but different in their own ways. Nice anot? :D

Oh and it’s not wearable yet. See the waist? No elastic no zip no shit. Blardy hell, India’s clothing mostly needs to be altered before you can wear ‘em. So I’ll need to wait till I get back to KL to wear this. Nyooooooooo. T_T

Another thing to note if any of my readers EVER come to Ahmedabad’s Law Garden - you NEED to bargain here. The skirt was initially Rs.1600 (RM160 +/-) before my mom cut it down to Rs.800 (RM80 +/-). And we needed to threaten to walk away only they gave us for my mom’s price. LOL.

And to make sure I don’t get lost in a shopping mall when I’m out dating with Akonana, I bought this bling-a-ring-ring.

ding dong bell by you.

LOL no lah I won’t get lost in a mall. Bought this at a whim too due to the overwhelming amount of options.

Necklace with little bells and matching earrings! Rs.150 for the whole set. More or less RM15. OMG!

But don’t get me wrong, I love my purchases. Just wished I had more time and CHANCE to select what I want. Screw the attitude of the people here. I think it’ll take 100 years before India becomes the next big thing.
