Another of the girly, emo blogs that you run across on the Internets.
Today my censored lecturer (see I gave you anonymity LOL) talked to us briefly about TARC’s advanced diploma. Either you take it, then get your degree for 3 months via the UK program, or don’t take it at all. I’m pretty amazed at how clueless my classmates are about it. It’s like, duh, didn’t you do the relevant research before blurting out you wanna study AD? It won’t get you anywhere, you’ll forever be stuck as the DIPLOMA graduate with a slightly higher education than the average diploma, but not enough to out-compete what
a real degree can. UNLESS, of course, you subscribe to the UK program. Which I sincerely hope you all will. Fork out the cash, please, it’s well worth it.
… … …
Well, with our school fees deadline around the corner, I’m getting an insight to the reality of TARCians - They really are living off pretty sparingly. Although they may dress nice, but they’re still riddled with stuff like their rental, food, etc. Fact is: it’s a burden for their family to support their education, that’s why they’re here. In another tone, when today I jokingly asked my friend where was my dumpling (He got it for some of my friends who lived outside), he said:
1. I have a boyfriend who will take good care of me (and feed me fat fat too).
2. I’m living with my family and have easy access to good food.
Indeed, I’m pretty struck. It struck me how comfortable is my current living environment. But, what they have, is their independence. Free from parental restrictions. Is that good? Maybe. But I always have my commitments in mind first, my enjoyment second. Should I not have that commitment, I would probably consider other colleges than going to somewhere ‘near’ just to get my education. I love my family, and love my home comfort as well. I need to learn how to save man, that’s gonna help a lot in the future. Hmm, or like how Rich Dad put it, be ‘financially wise’.
It’s too late to cry over spilt milk about my decision of taking diploma to get my ass to degree later - should I be thwarted just by what some people have to say about ‘diploma’ holders? We’re ‘lousy’, and such? True, true, you might be right you know, I can frankly say about 30% of the diploma holders are there to ‘get a piece of paper just to pass the day lalala’. Well, for me, it’s a not so common way to credit transfer into a degree program soon after I graduate. So the conclusion is nope, no one can thwart me now. What’s done is done.
*Jumps back to reality*
So now, I have a self-introduction project to do; a photo-essay; a PR campaign to run in the college real soon. Anyone got ideas for my self-intro project? Must be artsy-fartsy one. As for photo-essay… I needed a turtle as my model but due to my dear’s aquarium being flooded with big fish, small fish, whatever fish, I can’t put the turtles into the tub, later become no fish. T.T So no model. Anyone willing to borrow me, or give me other suggestion? He he he…
Feelings as of now: Missing my akonana. I’ve grown accustomed into meeting him daily. Bad habit. Must… resist… Grrr… For his own good, let him go… Less one day pak toh won’t die one… Bleh!

Eric dear, let you zha dou. -.-”
awh, twinning? if you meant the AD ‘twinning’, that’s optional. as for my course, i asked IDP. they say it’s possible for me to credit transfer. AFAIK we don’t need to subscribe to a twinning baru can transfer, right?

twinning as in, when u do ur AD, u are at the same time, preparing for the external paper (in my case campbell uni, usa) so when u have exams, u will sit for the same paper twice. one in the morning, one in the afternoon. when u complete ur AD, u will get the AD along with the external degree.
so u are studying for the AD and the external degree at the same time. ur course i duno got like this or not la. but i ended up in utar instead, didnt take that route.

YEs, gotta agree. Some or should I say most TARCian are living on a sting string budget. I once chatted with one and a RM80 monthly rental meant a lot to him. That explained why there’s still tonnes and tonnes of people mass living in those tiny rooms in the tiny houses of TBR.
Anyway, I have a senior who’s working in the UK after converting his AD into a degree with Sheffield U. So diploma or not diploma, it’s the personality that’s more important.
Ok, enough of my blabber.

that’s exactly what i found out, mrbherng. but surprisingly even though they’re living off bit by bit, their living expenses are pretty exorbitant i must say. they spend a lot on clothing, fashion and cosmetics, some of them lah. like some of those overdressed fellas i see lurking around the corners of my school hahahaha. while some of them bargain shop and get the cheapest items possible.
you’re a graduate from there too?

Yes, have to admit, the girls from SSSH do dress a tad too excessive at times forgetting that the average temperature in Malaysia is 33 C.
I did my pre-U there and still thinks that my time in TARC is the most enjoyable time of my schooling days.
